What is CAPRI?
CAPRI, The Contraceptive Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Database, is a centralized resource of publicly-available information on hormonal compounds used in contraceptive products.
Information on hormonal contraceptive compounds is generally limited, and what is available is spread out across a number of sources. This database provides summary information for all active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) currently used in contraceptive products. Categories presented include physical and chemical properties, toxicology, biochemistry and pharmacology, metabolites, chemical impurities, usage in medical products, and analytical methods used for testing.
This database has been developed to meet the informational needs of anyone interested in hormonal contraceptives, including researchers, public health workers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and product quality and compliance personnel.
Who We Are
The CAPRI Database is coordinated by FHI 360 under the Contraceptive Technology Innovation (CTI) Initiative with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It is a part of the CTI Exchange, available at www.ctiexchange.org.
